An Update On Last Week's Thrift Store Post
I had 4 out of the 11 listings sell at auction.
Ralph Lauren Bermuda's $16.06 (I paid $3.99, kind of steep, but it paid off)
4 Egg Nog Mugs $9.99 ($.59 each)
Dumbo ornament $9.99 ($.99)
Keebler mug $9.99 ($.59, plus this customer bought 2 more mugs from my store)
So, I grossed $46.03 off my $14.57 cash investment. I say grossed since that's not including my eBay or PayPal fees. I feel that if I at least make my investment and initial listing fees back with the auctions, it's a good day (it was a good day). I moved the remaining 7 items to my store for a total of $82.79. They each cost $.03 a month to list, once in the store format. Physically I took the items from my "auction" bin and put them in the appropriate, labeled, clear plastic tubs.
Halloween and Christmas have been hot sellers this week, so get them listed as soon as possible. Have a great week!

A Day In The Life Of Wylie Mom
After lunch we ran to Kroger. I haven't been to poor Kroger since Target opened, but I needed to get my 2 free packs of Fruit 2 Day. I'm trying it out and spreading the word for BzzAgent. BzzAgent is FREE to join. I also wanted to use my coupon for FREE Fiber One bars that Kroger mailed me. I got bread, milk, etc. I spent $20.75 and saved $21.81. Oh, and no, I didn't go to Kroger on Saturday. Hubby had to work and I knew it would be a mad house. It's hard to watch the register with kids in tow. :)
I also picked up some Activia yogurt at Kroger yesterday. It was $1.88 minus a $1.00 newspaper coupon so I paid $.88. Now, I'll mail in the Activia UPC & Kroger receipt in and will get a coupon for a FREE YoPlus yogurt back. The Yoplait YoPlus rebate form is here.
**Tip** Do rebates right away before the necessary pieces get lost, thrown away or you forget.
As a treat on the way home we went to Sonic. No, not very frugal, but I did wait until 1/2 Price Happy Hour between 2-4. Since I spent $2.13, that means I saved $2.13. But, since I've made that much watching ads at YouData the past couple of weeks, it all evens out (I have an odd way of seeing thing, I know!).
When we got home the mail had arrived and I received:
One $2.50 and three $1.50 Bounce Bar coupons from VocalPoint. It's FREE to join.
$5/$50 Home Depot coupon from the Home Depot Garden Club. Also FREE to join.
Remedy health magazine, FREE to request.
Speaking of magazines, I requested the following magazines for FREE yesterday. Remember magazines are great for reading, donating or selling.
Free 1 year subscription to Forbes Magazine or Muscle & Fitness.
Free 1 Year subscription to Viva Magazine.
For more free magazine deals (lots and lots), check out My Savings. I requested a free Vibe subscription thanks to them last week.

A Quick Trip To A Thrift Store With eBay In Mind
Total OOP spent with tax = $14.57
I've listed everything auction style first. Everything was listed as an individual item except for the small Egg Nog mugs. I listed all 4 of those together as a set. The starting price for all 11 auctions is $9.99.
Now, lets say something does not sells at auction. I will move it to my eBay store. Some things will remain at about $10. The tagged clothing items will get priced between $15-20, the Noritake creamer will get priced at around $15. The same goes for the set of 4 Egg Nog glasses and maybe even the Hallmark Keepsake Dumbo Ornament. These items are all slightly "unique" and are no longer manufactured.
I like to buy items with collectors in mind, or people looking for a replacement. But at the same time, I'll need to give the right person a little time to find my items on eBay. The chances of someone needing a replacement Noritake "Zest" Creamer and them looking for one on eBay during my 7 day auction is pretty slim. But, if I move it to an eBay store and give it up to 2 years to be found, it will most likely sell. eBay takes some patience!
I figure between the auctions and the store, if everything eventually sells, I should make between $110-140 BEFORE eBay and PayPal fees. Still a great profit for $14.57 and an hour of my time to photograph and list. I don't count the shopping as "work" since I love the hunt! eBay allows me to get a "bargain shopping high" without becoming a pack rat. I'd rather make money than collect stuff anyway. It's a win-win for me! :)

Another Profitable Trip To CVS This Week!
Bic Soleil Razor $7.99
Revlon Mineral Make-Up $9.99
Glide Floss $3.99
CVS Batteries $3.79
Wyler's Light packets $.27
minus
$5/$25 CVS printable CVS coupon
$3 off Bic Soleil newspaper coupon
$1.00 Revlon newspaper coupon
$3.79 off CVS batteries (free item coupon from CVS, August promo)
$9.99 in ECB from last week's CVS trip
Total cash OOP $2.44. I got back $12.99 in ECB and saved 30.49. I made an Extra Care Buck (ECB) profit of $3.00 and with the $2.44 in cash I spent, I had an overall "profit" of $.56. Woot!
The clearance Wyler's Light packets made the perfect filler at 9 cents a piece!! I had planned on getting the Sharpie highlighters (free with a coupon) but they were out and I was a $.24 shy of $25. Remember the $25 total needed does not include tax, so it's best to have a plan "B" or "C" in mind if you're trying to use a $5/$25 coupon. Sometimes (usually) something is out of stock.
Also.....I wanted to mention the Revlon make-up. I was lucky that they were hidden in my store and I found my shade. If not, I would have still bought some and sold it on eBay. It runs, $14.99 regular price and was on sale for $9.99. I actually "made" $1 on it since I used a coupon and it was free with ECB. It's a super tiny bottle, and it might cost about $1.50 to ship. So, if I were to sell it, I would maybe sell it for $9.99 with free shipping. Just an idea! :)

Texas residents, mark your calenders for Tax Free Weekend, August 21-23, 2009. This year school supplies are included. Although since tax free weekend is the weekend before school starts, I'm not sure how many people will be comfortable waiting until the last minute just to save the 8% sales tax.
Have you seen the trailer for the newest Disney Princess movie, The Princess and the Frog? It looks so good!!
Lastly, have you checked out Nielsen Homescan yet?
Here's the scoop- "As a panel member, Homescan will provide you with a hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the barcodes on all of your purchases. Then, once a week, you'll send us your purchase information." You're rewarded with points, that are exchanged for prizes (gift cards, etc).
Well, I applied about 6 weeks ago and was approved, but I've been on a scanner waiting list ever since. Yesterday the call came, my scanner is now on the way!!

A Quick Run Into Walmart For Wipes & Free Chocolate
10 Packs Pull-Ups wipes $17.20
8 Mars candy bars $4.00
minus
(5) $3.00/2 Huggies Pull-Ups wipes coupon
(4) $1.00/2 Mars candy bars coupon
Total OOP = $2.38
The wipes were $.22 each (plus sales tax), the Mars chocolate was FREE and I saved $19.00 with the coupons. I'll admit, I got the trip idea last week from The Thrifty Mommy. I went ahead and got the trip ready (list made, coupons paper clipped to list) and kept it in my purse. I figured I'd be in the neighborhood sometime soon.
Even if you don't have little kids, wipes are a great thing for everyone to keep in the car. You can use them cleaning up spills (coffee, soda) or for cleaning your hands before and after meals "on the go". Keeping the pack inside a plastic zipper bag will keep them moist in the pack longer. A good tip in the Texas summer heat.
Thanks to my mom and step-mom for their extra coupons! I would never have an overstock of freebies without you!!

I'm also proud to say that in October of 2009 I became an eBay Power Seller. It's just the bronze level, but I'm still very excited! I'm also proud to say that in the same month I was ranked as a Top Rated Seller, meaning I "Consistently receives highest buyers' ratings, Ships items quickly, Has earned a track record of excellent service". My hard work has paid off with two cute labels that will increase buyer confidence and hopefully increase my sales. Plus, I get a discount now too!
eBay will still be work, but giving yourself goals and making it fun will make all the difference in sticking with it. Have any eBay success stories? I'd love for you to share it with me. I'd also love to hear you eBay questions as well!

The FREE Kraftmaid Kitchen Idea Book Offer Is Back!
If this offer interests you, be sure to hurry. The Kraftmaid offers usually only last a few hours, maybe a day at most! Basically, they go very quickly. Just click the above banner to request your free idea book. I got one a month or so ago and even my daughter likes to look through it and dream.
Have a great afternoon! :)
I Gave CVS My Two Cents & Made A Profit!
minus
(2) $3.00 Visine Wipe newspaper coupons
Total cash out of pocket (OOP) spent = $.02
I got back $9.99 in Extra Care Bucks and saved $25.56. Since I started with $7.96 in ECB, got back $9.99 and spent $.02 in cash, I had an overall "profit" on this trip of $2.01.
I REALLY wanted the $3 profit from the Blink eye drops (with coupon from Sunday) and the Electrasol, but again I missed out since I didn't head to CVS first thing Sunday morning. I guess it wasn't meant to be for me.
What did you score this week at CVS? What free item coupon did you get?

The Wylie Mom Blog Design Phase Is Complete!
First, she lead to me Our Blog Templates where I started with "The Professional Template". After that, I just tweaked it's colors.
To keep my blog design unique and "original", I did the banner and button myself. It seemed like a great idea since I have somewhat of an art background and could picture what I wanted in my head. I used watercolor pencils and a blender pen, that's it! Then, I just scanned in the design, changed it from inches to pixels, and voila! Sounds real easy, right? In all, it took me a couple of days to get my design right and figure out all the coding. But, let me mention that since I did it all myself, is was free!
One of the most important things Ginger mentioned to me is, do the blog design for yourself. I did and personally, I love it! Be sure to click here to check out my handy work. Enjoy you Sunday afternoon!
