Favorite eBay sale...? I sold 2 Michael Jackson Thriller albums for about $75 (between the 2). Just showing you've got to strike while the iron is hot! Click here to see one of the listings.

If you sell on eBay, now is the time to think "back to school" and get those early fall listings ready. Jeans, light jackets, backpacks, uniforms pieces, etc. I'd start listing them in the next few weeks through August.

I sure hope everyone is having a great summer and not missing me too much. Be sure to keep up with the free sample requests, my mailbox has about one a day!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap - Week 26

Wow, it's hard to believe that 2009 is already half over! As far as last week's tracking it was a slow financial week, but a very action packed week personally (son's birthday and family visiting!). Here are the numbers:

Savings - $55.52

- saved $12.68 at Walmart (didn't blog...it was boring)
- saved $2.89 at Sonic (free Wacky Pack printable coupon from Sonic Birthday Club)
- saved $24.95 at Albertsons
- saved $10 at Party City ($10/30 Party City coupon)
- saved $5.00 with Papa Murphy coupon (I got 2 family sized "take and bake" pizzas & some cheese bread for my son's birthday party...it feed 14 people for $21)

eBay Sales - $122.45

Misc. Income - $16.99

-$2.00 cash at Half Price Books (I took in 8 magaiznes, that I got for free)
-$5.00 from Synovate Research (surveys and product trials...e-mail me for a referal)
-$9.99 rebate from Centrum

Weekly Impact - $194.96
Yearly Impact - $9,284.26

I'm happy (and thankful) about the eBay sales. A total of $122.45 in sales and only $9.99 was made at auction (one item!!) and $112.46 was from my store (9 items!!).

My favorite item that sold was this cool Pottery Barn plate. I found 4 of them at a garage sale a few weeks back and paid $1 a piece. I listed 2 of them auction style first, starting at $9.99 and they went unsold after 7 days. So I moved all 4 of them to my store and priced them at $13.97. They all four sold, 12 days later ($55.88)!! I paid $7.44 to eBay ($.70 original auction listing fees, $.03 store listing fee and $6.71 final value fee) and $2.27 to PayPal. So, $55.88 minus $4 for the plates minus $9.71 in fees equals $41.91 profit. I cleared $10.47 per plate, and my goal is $10 per item. I paid 7% in cost of goods sold and 18% in expenses and made 75% in profit. Very nice!

Have a great week!!

Nothing really exciting to report this week. Honestly, I've been put playing with the kids so much, and have been a terrible blogger! But, we're having "fun in the sun" this summer! We've been playing out under our shady arbor/pergola and have been playing in the baby pool and sprinkler. Fun on the cheap! :)

Have a great week!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap - Week 24

I saved lots of money last week!

eBay Sales - $116.25

Misc. Income - $0.00

Weekly Impact - $445.98
Yearly Impact - $8,769.10

Pretty nice week! eBay was slow, but I'm not surprised. I've haven't been listing much lately since I'm working on moving my pictures from Auctivia to eBay. That's a long boring story, and a long boring process. Anyway, last week I sold 10 items ($116.25) and 9 of those were from my store. Just a reminder, my eBay store is full of things that DID NOT sell at auction. I marked up the price and let them sit in tubs in the garage a little longer.......then, cha-ching! eBay + Patience = Money!!

Have a great week!

How can you make or save some extra money this week? Be sure to have fun!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap- Week 20

What a sad little week...here goes!

Saved - $106.43

- $22.48 at CVS
- $11.30 at Walgreens
- $42.65 at Kroger
- saved $30 cutting hubby and son's hair

eBay sales - $69.91

Misc. Income - $36.00

- $20 Target e-gift card from Swagbucks
- $16.00 I spent this much of my credit at The Mulberry Bush (consignment store), I could have taken the rest home in cash but will check back in a few weeks.

Weekly Impact- $212.34
Yearly Impact - $7,276.33

I was surprised by my slow sales, but that's eBay. You can't always predict when things will sell. I listed 30 new items during week 19 and 22 items week 20. Which brought me to over 500 items, yay!

My fun item that sold last week was a remote control. It seems every time we clean out an old box or a drawer we find an old remote (TV, stereo, DVD players, etc.). So, I've been listing them on eBay. This one sold for about $15 from my store. I've also sold them at auction in the past for between $10 and $18. Good luck!

P.S. Once you start earning Swagbucks, have your friends or family give it a try. If you refer them, you will earn bucks when they earn bucks. I use Swagbucks for my Google searches!!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap- Week 19

It seems being a lazy eBayer week 17 and 18 caught up with me!

Saved - $100.52

- $2.99 at Sonic (free Wacky Pack cpn)
- $1.00 at Redbox--NOTE, Today is the last day for the free Movie Mondays. Starting in June they will text one free rental code a month for the summer. Another good thing coming to an end.
- $55.76 at CVS and $40.77 at Walgreens

eBay Sales - $77.78

Misc. Income - $45.99

- $10.99 Walgreens rebate loaded (last one!
- $10.00 CVS gift card, cashed in some of my MyPoints.
- $25.00 for doing an eBay interactive survey

Weekly Impact - $224.29
Yearly Impact - $7,063.99

I haven't done this in a while, but let's gross the numbers up. You can read about the grossing up here, basically I factor in the impact of taxes and minimal work expenses such as gas and clothing, not child care!! That being the case, I would have made $229.05 for the week and $9,418.65 for the year. For the year, that breaks down to $12.39 an hour, or about $25K a year with no child care costs. Nice! :)

My eBay sales consisted of 8 items, 7 of them being from the store. The one and only auction item is my item of the week, 4 Boxes of Visine that I got for FREE ($.48 profit really) at CVS. I have found that grouping 2-6 like items together works best for most drug store items, when selling them on eBay.

Have a great week!!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 18

Not a bad week! Sorry for the late recap, we had my daughter's birthday party and hubby was also off for 4 days, so I took more "vacation time". :)

Savings - $305.32

-$43.78 at Kroger and $12.49 at Walgreens
-$1.00 at Redbox on Monday
-$40.89 at CVS
-$150.90 at Kohl's
-$53.27 at Party City the $10/30 Party City coupon
-$2.99 at Sonic, kids get a FREE Wacky Pack coupon if you sign up for the Sonic Birthday Club

eBay Sales - $126.77

Misc. Income - $74.15

-$25 Target card from MyPoints
- $20.00 Target card from Swagbucks (this is an e-gift card that you use online)
- $24.37 check picked up from local consignment store, The Mulberry Bush. I love this place!!
- $4.78 was given back to me from PayPal during April (for using my PayPal debit card)

Weekly Impact $506.24
Yearly Impact $6839.70

I don't even want to mention my eBay listings last week. It was only 6, but I'm ever so thankful for my store sales. 8 out of the 10 things I sold last week was from my ebay store. And remember, my store is stocked with items that did not sell at auction. I'll try to be a good work-at-home mom this week and list at least 30 items.

This week's item to watch for is girls Strasburg Dresses. The auction linked is one I sold before Easter for $51.99. I only paid $3 for it at a thrift store and I found 2 more last night also priced at $3 each!!

Have a great money making and money saving week!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 17

Last week was bit of a "vacation" week for me. I had a lot going on towards the end of the week (show at daughter's pre-school, competition out of town for her twirling class, and she also turned 5!!!) so some errands got put on hold. But, I did make it to CVS! Here's what I managed to rummage up as far as savings and profits.

Savings - $31.73

-$1.00 at Redbox
- $.60 at Walgreens (huge, right?)
- $30.13 at CVS

eBay Sales - $138.36

Misc. Income - $124.84

- $10 cash at Half Price Books
- $2.99 Arm and Hammer fabric sheet rebate
- $111.85 check from Logical Media - It's an affiliate program for your blog, banners and offers and such. Check out the banner at the bottom for more info.

Weekly Impact $294.94
Yearly Impact $6,333.46

As far as eBay scoop, I only listed 15 things! Shame on me, I know! But I had stuff going on. What can I say? Out of the $138.36 in sales I did have, that was 8 auctions and 4 store items. I can definitely say I'm looking forward to summer vacation when I have less going on and can give eBay more attention. :)

My favorite recent sale is this Ralph Lauren plush sweater bear. I paid $.99 for it at a thrift store. When I listed it, I had a price plus the "or best offer feature". I was offered $30!! Yippee!! The key to having an eBay store is list often and have lots of patience. :)

Have a great week!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 16

Here's how last week turned out for me:

Savings, detailed below - $122.94

- $39.59 at Kroger
- $18.59 at Albertsons
- $12.22 at Walmart
- $52.54 in products to try

eBay Sales - $92.85 (that was 6 store items)

Misc. Income, detailed below - $40.59

- $3.81 PayPal MasterCard cash back from March (I forgot to track this!)
- $.53 BigCrumbs
- $32.50 check from confidential panel (hubby and I both)
- $3.75 Caregivers Marketplace rebate

Weekly Impact - $256.38
Yearly Impact - $6038.52

It was not a huge week, but I'm not feeling too bad. Last weekend was Easter and I was out of town. Not to mention I had very few auctions ending because of that same reason. I did sell 6 store items. I'm very thankful for my store sales!! I listed 31 new items last week and will aim for 35 this week.

As far as something fun I sold, here's a cute Tommy Hilfiger dress that went for $9.97, the week before last. Another store sale. I bought this dress last year sometime at Once Upon A Child for about $5 or $6. I remember it being on sale and I got a few other things and used a $5/$25 coupon. Anyway, my daughter wore this dress a lot last year, and I still turned a profit on it! I will admit, I do spend a bit of time on the kid's laundry, I wash inside out in cold and hang to dry. And it wasn't a huge profit, but you can shop smart for kids clothes!!

For example: I'd rather spend $20 on a new Gymboree outfit ($15-20 considering a good sale at Gymboree!) and sell it later on eBay for $10 than get a new outfit at Target for $10 that has no resell value after it's worn. Both outfits "cost" $10, but why not get the better quality (and way cuter!!) item....? Just another crazy way I look at things, using the power of eBay. :)

Have a great week!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 15

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I did!! The kids and I went with my parents to Missouri for an Easter family reunion of sorts. Poor hubby had to stay home and work. Today, I've been trying to get back on track, you know how that goes after being out of town. Here's my brief recap of last week (finally!!).

Savings - $70.77 ($44.27 at CVS and $26.50 at Walgreens)

eBay Sales - $174.22

Misc. Income - $10.98 (Walgreens rebate from March)

Weekly Impact - $255.97
Yearly Impact - $5782.14

I listed 15 new items on eBay last week. I'll aim for a minimum of 30 this week. I also got 2 samples in the mail and 3 free magazines, keep an eye out for free subscriptions!! It was a pretty slow week due to the holiday.

Here's my favorite eBay sale from last week: Kentucky Bourbon Glass...nothing really special about it. It was first listed at auction a few months ago and didn't sell, so I moved it to the store. It sold last week for $9.97 and only cost me $.59 at a thrift store. This is a perfect example of why I love my eBay store!!

Have a great week! :)

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 14

Here's my weekly recap of my savings and income (random $ and eBay sales) from last week.

Savings - $110.46

- $19.46 at CVS and $1.75 at Target and $1.00 at Redbox
- $30.00 at Texas Roadhouse with Gift Certificates (we only had to pay $1 and the tip!)
- $15.00 at Kohl's (hubby lost the receipt, so that's my estimate rounded)
- $42.25 at Kroger

eBay Sales - $286.29 -$4.99 unpaid item = $281.30

Misc. Income - $2.00

- $1.00 in Extra Care Bucks printed for my Winter spending
- $1.00 from Dollar Surveys

Weekly Impact - $393.76
Yearly Impact - $5,526.17

My P&G coupon book, with $120 in coupons finally came. Yay! I also received a few samples and requested more samples as well. As far as eBay, I only listed 14 new items. Ugh!! My goal was 30. But, here's why. Easter is next weekend. I didn't want any auctions ending Friday through Monday of next week, since people won't be sitting on the computer shopping. That all said, my goal will only be 15 auctions for this next week. Since I don't want to list until Tuesday, but will be out of town Friday. Sales wise, I had a great week. Listing more than 30 items a week has been paying off.

As far as eBay, I thought I'd add a new feature to the weekly recap. I thought I'd share my favorite sale from the past week. It could have been a good money maker, something totally weird that actually sold, something I got for free, etc. So, here's my favorite item from last week:

Dish Satellite Receiver - We dug this out of the attic a couple of weeks ago (we've been doing lots of cleaning and organizing the past few weeks). I almost tossed it in the Goodwill pile. Good thing I didn't, I made $20.49 on it.

Have any fun stories to share about saving or making money? Leave a comment!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 13

Last week turned out pretty good. It seems the tracking is helping me stay motivated. I hope you learn a creative way to make and/or save money by reading. :)

Savings - $162.82

- $30.62 at Kroger and $46.71 at Albertsons
- $14.99 Afrin thingy from Bzz Agent (more on this later)
- $38.02 at Dillard's and $7.50 at Gymboree
- $24.98 at Chili's, used 2 free Guiltless Grill coupons from Bzz Agent

eBay Sales - $209.86

Misc. Income - $20.00

- $5.00 cash for lotion research
- $15.00 MasterCard from the Olay rebate (back in January)

Weekly Impact - $392.68
Yearly Impact - $5132.41

I was so close to breaking $400 for the week...darn! But look at those eBay numbers, yay! Seems like my list more, make more plan is working. I only listed 30 "new and unique" items last week. My goal was 35, but I ran out of stuff to list. I'm happy with 30 and will keep that as my goal this next week.

Not sure why I'm sharing all this info? Click here to read about my weekly tracking.

I'm very excited to say that as of right now, I'm 4 Swagbucks away from a $20 Target gift card. I last cashed out with Swagbucks on February 1st, so it's taken about 2 months to earn $20. That's the best deal ever, since I do nothing more than do my "google" searches through Swagbucks. Click the cute guitar "search & win" banner below to check it out!!!! :)

Have a great week!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 12

Spring Break week turned out a little better than I had imagined it would. What with my slacking off and all. I didn't grocery shop or drug store shop, so we've been running out of things since yesterday. I hate shopping on the weekend, so I'll be making up for lost time tomorrow. Here's how my week turned out:

Savings - $78.37

- $1.49 at Taco Bueno and $1.89 at Arby's
- $11.00 Dallas Arboretum
- $8.99 Glade automatic air freshener thingy from Bzz Agent
- $35.00 for my first MYSTERY SHOP, Yay! We'll call this savings since I paid for a dinner out with hubby, and was paid back via PayPal. Since this one was a success, I hope to do more in the future.
- $20.00 cut hubby's hair

eBay - $76.30

Misc. Income - $126.99

- $120.00 confidential panel hubby and I are on, yearly bonus was included! :)
- $6.99 Ensure rebate

Weekly Impact - $281.66
Yearly Impact - $4739.73

And, I did meet my eBay listing goal of 30 items! It helped putting my goal out into the blogsphere. Not that anyone keeps up, but I felt like I needed to list the stated number. So, this week's eBay listing goal is 35 items. Have a great week!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 11

How did you do last week? Did you save a lot of money? Make a lot? Here's my week 11 recap:

Savings - $142.14

- $2.00 at Redbox, free rental on Monday and Wednesday
- $22.36 at CVS
- $1.28 at Target and $8.63 at Dickey's (kids ate free)

- $52.54 at Kroger (groceries and gas)
- $21.97 at Walmart

eBay Income - $126.89

Misc. Income - $21.97 Walgreens rebate was loaded to Gift Card

I only list 15 new eBay items. I really need to work on the eBay thing!! I've made a goal to list 30 items this week. I am going to try to break that down to listing 7 or 8 items, 4 days a week. Wish me luck! :)

Weekly Impact - $291.00
Yearly Impact - $4,458.07

How's this? Take the yearly number and "gross it up", divide by 11 weeks, divide again by 40 hours a week and I get $13.50 an hour. Pretty good for staying home with the kids, right? Read about my own personal Wylie Mom Math and "grossing up" right here. I like to make life look better through numbers!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 10

Here's how last week turned out for me.

Savings - $76.74

- $2.00 eBay coupon, I got poly bags for shipping clothes.
- $1.00 Redbox, free Monday promo code
- $31.88 at CVS, Target and Staples
- $41.86 at Kroger

eBay Sales - $83.76 (all store sales since no auctions were listed week 9)

Misc. Income - $1.00 (Dollar Surveys)

And here's my big money saving story!!! I started at MyPoints and was lead to NetQuote. I was searching for new auto insurance. I figured we had 2 different cars since we last shopped around. Plus, I am no longer driving to work. But, getting an insurance quote does do a hard pull on your credit.

NetQuote was super fast! I had at least 4 quotes e-mailed to me within 15 minutes. I changed back to Geico and will be saving....okay this is the embarrassing part, $1071.20 a year!!! Why didn't I do this sooner? Yay me! I am very excited about the savings! I won't add it to the weekly number, but I will add it to my yearly impact number. Also, I'll get 5000 points from MyPoints for switching. With MyPoints you cash in points for gift cards and 5000 will get you about $35 worth.

Weekly Impact - $161.50
Yearly Impact - $4167.07

I listed 21 new items on eBay, requested samples and clipped coupons and cleaned out my coupon binder. In addition to receiving fun samples in the mail, I got a new product to try on my son (I'll be paid $5 upon completion) and I got super cute hoodie and mouse pad from Mr. Rebates. Yay!

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 9

Another week, another dollar! Here's how last week looked for me.

Savings, detailed below - $105.51

- $32.00 at the Dallas Zoo. We parked and got in for free since we're zoo members. The membership paid for itself after our 2nd visit. We also packed our lunch and only spent $9 all day, that was for ice cream. Yay for a frugal family day!
- $1.00 free Redbox rental on Monday
- $.99 free Jack In The Box tacos
- $16.39 at Walgreens and $20.73 at Kroger
- $26.63 at Kohl's, I received a $10/$10 coupon for hubby's birthday. Couldn't pass it up but had to be fair and get an outfit for each kiddo. :)

eBay Sales - $157.65

Misc. Income, detailed below - $43.89

- $4.59 TheraFlu rebate
- $29.67 Walgreens January rebate, I decided I should be tracking this. Duh!
- $4.99 Vent Fresh Air Freshener rebate
- $4.64 was my PayPal Debit Mastercard cash back for the month of February.

Weekly Impact - $307.05
Yearly Impact - $2934.37

If you're checking my math, it may seem off. Remember how I made some changes and am saving us $60 a month? Well, I decided to track the $720.00 in my yearly total for this year. I figured it's only fair. Same thing with the Walgreens rebate money, I'll throw that in the week I get it. Not sure I didn't want to track them in the first place.

I was a total slacker and didn't list any eBay. I did organize my store a bit and made use of 2 new bins that I purchased at Target (free with a gift card). I also cleaned a closet and 3 drawers and added some stuff to my eBay "to list" laundry basket. So, I have plenty to list this week!

My weekly number grossed up is $409.40. Year to date grossed up is $3912.49. If I take the YTD number and divide it by 9 weeks, divided by 40 hours a week, I get $10.86 an hour. So I have found myself a "work from home job" that pays almost $11 an hour. Not too bad for getting to keep my kids with me and do what I love, make my own hours, etc. :)

Stay tuned this week! I did something this morning that is saving us about $1000 a year!!! Too bad I don't save $1000 everyday... :)

Wylie Mom's Weekly Recap-Week 8

Eeek! I'm late with my weekly recap! Yesterday was hubby's birthday and we went to the zoo (for free since we're zoo members). Here's how week 8 turned out.

- Redbox $1.00
- I cut hubby's & both kids hair at home $40.00 (rough estimate)

eBay Sales - $138.24

Misc. Income, detailed below - $61.93

- $10.00 for a CVS survey last month, I was paid with ECB here.
- $3.24 was deposited into PayPal from BigCrumbs.
- $25.00 Target gift card was received from MyPoints. Send me an e-mail at wyliemom@live.com if you'd like 250 bonus points for signing up!!
- $20.00 check received from a confidential panel that hubby and I are on.
- $3.69 check from Kellogg's Smart Start rebate.

Weekly Impact - $324.12
Year To Date - $1,916.32

The weekly amount grossed up is $432.16. Divided by 40 hours a week and I "made" $10.80 an hour. You can read about my "grossing up" and my 2009 goals here. The YTD amount grossed up is $2,555.09.

To keep the ball rolling, I listed 22 new eBay items, requested samples, took a few surveys and continued to clip and organize my coupons. I also made a few calls and made some adjustments to our monthly bills. I'm not going to track in on my "weekly tracking", but I'm saving us $60 a month. That's $720 a year! Overall, I would say last week was a good week.

Have a great (money making /saving) week!!!
