Texas residents, mark your calenders for Tax Free Weekend, August 21-23, 2009. This year school supplies are included. Although since tax free weekend is the weekend before school starts, I'm not sure how many people will be comfortable waiting until the last minute just to save the 8% sales tax.

Here's the scoop- "As a panel member, Homescan will provide you with a hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the barcodes on all of your purchases.Then, once a week, you'll send us your purchase information." You're rewarded with points, that are exchanged for prizes (gift cards, etc).
Well, I applied about 6 weeks ago and was approved, but I've been on a scanner waiting list ever since. Yesterday the call came, my scanner is now on the way!!
