Thanking Veterans & Active Military With Free Food

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 is Veterans Day. As a way to say thank you to our terrific men and women who have served to protect our freedom, Outback and Applebee's are offering up some free food for veterans and active duty military.

Outback Steakhouse will serve a FREE Bloomin' Onion and beverage of choice. Beverage can be one non-alcoholic drink or one draft Anheuser- Busch beer (except where prohibited by law).

Applebee's will serve a FREE entree! Veterans and service men and women can choose from the following 6 items: Three-Cheese Chicken Penne, Fire Pit Bacon Burger, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Chicken Tenders Platter, 7oz. Sirloin or a Oriental Chicken Salad. Beverage NOT included.

Also remember that gratuity is NOT included in either offer. That means tip your servers people!! You know they only make $2.13 an hour right?

Here's what will be accepted as proof of military service:

U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card
U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card
Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW)
Photograph in Uniform (I think they mean one of those professional shots)
Wearing Uniform

Maybe go to one restaurant for lunch and the other for dinner...? Thank you to all our past and present military men and women!
